February Stitch Fix

My second Stitch Fix arrived today. Although I wasn’t quite as excited to receive it as I was the first time, I was still anxious to see what pieces my stylist had picked for me. (By the way, saying “my stylist” makes me feel a little important and really pretentious. πŸ™‚ )
I hoped the feedback I had given last time, along with the new requests I had made, helped with the amount of pieces I would like and keep. This is a two-edged sword, however. I want to like everything instead of being disappointed, but liking everything would mean a more expensive experience.
I first read the personalized note included from my stylist. I noticed it was from a different name than the last time. I’ve read it’s routine for Stitch Fix to change up stylists for fixes. You can, however, request the same stylist if you feel like a certain one “gets” you.

I like that my Pinterest board can serve as an insight into my tastes, and even allow me to receive exact items. Note: if you’d like to receive exact pieces you’ve pinned, search for “Stitch Fix reviews” on Pinterest and see what others have received. Stitch Fix has clothing companies make clothes exclusively for them. Not only does this ensure your clothes are more unique and less likely to be duplicated (we all know the uncomfortableness of showing up to an event in the same outfit as another attendee), but it allows you to access these pieces if you so desire.
A styling card is always included to show you the pieces with the suggestions on how they can be styled. I had specifically asked for a dress and/or skirt since my last fix only had tops and a pair of jeans. I was thrilled to see a dress AND a skirt. I had also requested a bag/purse and received one, too.

#1 Bastille Tulip Sleeve Blouse by Papermoon
At first glance this top seemed basic, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I don’t usually like black tops; they show every little dust, stain, and baby-jam-hands print. I hold all my final judgements until after I try the clothing on, though.

This top had a cute shape, and I liked the cap sleeves. I wasn’t overly impressed with it, though, and the steep price didn’t convince me to go for something so basic. Final Verdict: RETURN
#2 Blackmore Crossback Blouse by Crescent
The material of this blouse was very reminiscent of the first one, and the color was only slightly different. This blouse had a navy blue hue, but its most unique detail was the crossed back. I was intrigued to see how it would look on since I don’t have any tops with this feature.
I liked how the back looked but, again, this top was mostly basic and wasn’t particularly special enough to keep. Final Verdict: RETURN
#3 Elisia Studded Satchel by Street Level
I had asked for a bag/purse for this fix and I was sent one. The color is a deep teal and it has studded gold metal accents.
The stylist mentioned in my note that I had pinned this exact bag on Pinterest. I didn’t really remember that, but I went to take a look. It wasn’t the same bag, but a green one by the same brand.

I like the one I pinned better. The color is more appealing, and it lacks the gold studs which I find isn’t reflective of my personal style. In the picture above I even appear to look awkward holding it. Final Verdict: RETURN
So we’re not off to a great start. Three rejections. It gets better, I promise!
#4 Char Geo Print Maxi Skirt by Market & Spruce
I had asked for a skirt and I was thrilled to see that it was a maxi. The print was the first thing that caught my eye when I opened the package: a mixture of red, turquoise, and royal blue.
I tried to think of a top I had that would go with this vibrant print. I immediately thought of a royal blue layered top. I think it went well and the solid balanced the busy print. The skirt felt soft and comfortable. The only drawback to this stunning maxi skirt was the price tag. To be honest, I’m still debating whether to keep it or return it. Final Verdict: ????
#5 Jace Chevron Print Dress by Hawthorn
This dress. Yes. It’s one I had pinned a couple of times and my stylist had noticed. Hooray, because I really wanted this dress!
I love the chevron, I love the gray, I love the soft fabric, and I love the fit. In case you’re oblivious to subtlety (or a lack of it), Final Verdict: KEEP
So what did I learn this Fix?
-my feedback is read and generally received in the way intended. I had requested a skirt and/or dress and received that. I also received different colors, and a bag.
-my Pinterest board is key. The stylists read this for inspiration and will send you actual pieced from your page.
-these boxes of surprise fashion are a fun addition to my month
